Cool Cat Toys - Part 4

This article may not be concentrating on cool cat toys that you can buy or make for your favourite furry friend. But it can give you an idea on what to get for your "baby" for this coming holiday season.

You may want to go with the traditional cat toys depending on the age of your cat. Older cats may not enjoy these as much as a younger one. Please consider what energy level your cat has before purchasing a bunch of toys that will not be used upsetting you and your older feline.

However, if you have a younger cat or one that thinks they are a mouser even though they probably have never see n a mouse in their lives these toys are great fun. The more you can do to get your cat active the better they will be off. Cats like all other pets need exercise and these toys are a great way to get them moving. Another idea is a new collar with fresh name tag. Once again if you have a cat that is not use to having a collar this may not end well.

Maybe if you have more than one cat you may want to invest in a kitty apartment for them to play and relax in. If you are looking for something a little different you might want to try on of the water purifying cat dish that keeps that cats water cool, clean, and has a falling stream of water for your cat. You may want to look at a cat bed a special place for your cat to go and relax. With the cat bed there are no guarantees that your cat will stop sleeping well everywhere else.

Cool Cat Toys - Part 3

Here are more example of cool cat toys that you can play with your favourite furry feline:

When you return home, your cat may be watching for you at the window. Tracing your finger on the window can be great fun.

Forget the myth that says cat hates water. Believe it or not, some cats love being around water. You might see if they are interested in fishing for your toes while you’re taking a bath, or in bobbing for floating plastic bottles.

Yes, you can teach your cat to fetch. As many of us know, cats sometimes like bringing us "presents" of something they hunted. With a bit of regular encouragement, you can get them to bring you soft balls or mouse toys.

Balls of every type and anything that rolls is fun to a cat, but balls of yarn are among their favorites.

Some cats love a challenge. Try putting an object they want or a treat inside a plastic jug or box that has holes cut in it, or place a jingling ball inside a clear, roll-able, plastic container.

Play hide and seek when they are following you all around the house. Pick up your speed and duck behind a door jamb. When they get close, jump out and say "BOO!" and chase them making game noises. Then go back on your route, and jump out again when they follow you.

"Twitch the Hair" is played when they are sleepy and lying near you. Ever so lightly, with your finger or other object, move very lightly across just a few hairs. Usually the lower back, ear tufts, and hair on the under paw works best. You’ll know you’re in the right area when they start to twitch. When they open their eyes, pretend like nothing happened. Let them close their eyes and begin again.

Cool Cat Toys - Part 2

There are so many cool cat toys that you can play with your cat. A few tips before starting: If your cat accidentally hurts you, let them know your disapproval by saying "ouch!" or "no!" and quit playing with them for half an hour or more. If you do this consistently, they will learn to be more gentle with you.

A classic cool cat toy or game is to have them "hunt for burrowing mice." Just run your hand underneath a blanket and let them pounce on top.

Another example of a cool cat toy are the brown paper bag. Most cats can’t seem to resist a brown paper shopping bag left on the floor, but if yours need a little enticing, try scratching your finger at the back of the bag when they are near the opening.

Fishing poles also make a cool cat toy. All you need is a stick, a string, and some small, soft, bauble at the end like a knotted handkerchief or a stuffed mouse toy.

Showdown is a game for a confrontational cat, once they know they can trust you. It’s best played once they know your signal of when to stop and how to be gentle. When they are batting at your legs or otherwise in a hunting mood, wave your arms up and down in front of them and make your playful fake fighting sounds. Don’t frighten them, and watch that they don’t get too serious, and it can be a fun game for both of you.

Similarly, you can play, "en garde!" Find some object like a ruler or a pencil or hairbrush. That and their paws are the foils in your swordplay.

If you want a fancy and cool cat toy, find a small laser pointer and watch your cat go wild trying to catch the dot of light. Do not let them stare directly into the laser source, but you can point the dot to a wall, or it’s particularly fun if you can sit in a position where you can point the laser from one end of the house to the other and back and forth. You won’t get tired, but they will get lots of exercise!

Cats love being in the same room with you, and are sometimes waiting for your return just on the other side of a closed door. If there is a gap under the door, try poking a pencil or some other object underneath and see if paws appear when you pull it back.

Cool Cat Toys - Part 1

There are a few basic things to keep in mind when you are looking for a toy for cat. First and most importantly, safety. Your cat should only play with toys that are safe for them. Be sure you stay away from a toy that can be quickly chewed and destroyed by your cat.

Example of cool cat toys are the shower curtain rings. Your cat will love playing for hours with the rings. They are thick enough to not pose a threat to your cat is they are chewed. Although, you should sterilize them first. Wash them as you would your dishes and then boil them for a couple minutes. Once they are cool give them to your furry friend.

Old stuffed animals also makes cool cat toys. If the stuffed animal has small eyes or anything else that can come off and possibly choke your cat, take it off before giving the toy to your cat. If the small stuffed animal has a tail, your cat will surely love it. Be sure to keep the size of the stuffed animal relatively close to the size of the cat playing with it.

A great way to keep your cat stimulated with his or her cool cat toys is to only offer a select few each day. Continue to rotate the different toys. Each day will be a different set of toys for your fur ball to enjoy. Any toys that are not being left out for that particular day should be kept completely out of the cats sight. Although, if your furry family member has one particular toy that you know he or she is quite fond of, you can leave it out at all times for he or she to play with.

Remember cats are very similar to children. They often get the most enjoyment from the box the gift came in. Therefore, there is no need to spend a lot of money on toys. Use your imagination and safe household items for toys.
